Mortgage pricing has opened about 0.375 "worse" to the points/credits associated with each interest rate due to continued optimism over a proposed debt ceiling. We have had a fairly volatile morning thus far.

Advice:
Treasuries fell for a fifth day, the longest losing streak since June, after President Barack Obama and congressional leaders said there has been progress on a budget agreement as the U.S. debt-ceiling deadline looms. Stock gains curtailed demand for the relative safety of government securities before the Treasury sells a combined $65billion in three- and six-month bills today. U.S. government securities due in a decade and longer have fallen 10 percent this year, the biggest decline of 144 debt indexes worldwide tracked by Bloomberg and the European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies. Rumors started yesterday that they were coming closer to a solution and it definitely appears to have impacted the market today, said Niels From, chief analyst at Nordea Bank AB in Copenhagen. Its impacting risk sentiment positively, which is why Treasuries are under a bit of pressure. We probably need more concrete information for the market to really believe in it but the positive news is sending yields a few basis points higher.
 
My position on MBS stays neutral.

Market Commentary (Dan Rawitch)

Empire Manufacturing was off quite a bit this morning. Bonds have moved off of their lows. We are still technically in a sensitive spot I would not relax until we get AND stay above 101.10. There is talk of deal in the next day or so and I have NO idea how the market will react. Litterally, uncharted waters!
